Gender Awareness for men?

I have just spent two remarkable days with 11 outstanding women from one of our High Street Banks who took part in our GQ™ for Women Leaders seminar. It was a profound experience for many reasons, but mostly because I was in the presence of some truly talented, inspirational women who had all come together to raise the bar on their professional and personal lives. The women brought commitment, energy and enthusiasm to the table and their attitudes as emerging leaders could not be faulted. We were able work on a variety of issues and one of the themes was gender differences at work and how the dynamics play out politically. We were able to share and resolve issues around the Double Bind – damned if you do and damned if you don’t and the women had a question – why aren’t men given this sort of awareness training? Don’t men need to know about the gendered characteristics of the women they are managing? Is it not imperative that male managers know how to get the most out of every single member of their teams?

I would love to hear what you think?

  1. Tracey, I think gender awareness for men would be a fantastic idea, you are so good at explaining the different thought processes etc that it would be a great opportunity to tap into an whole new audience. Good luck. Catherine.
