It takes a strong man…
I am going to be very short this week because I want to encourage you to read the interview within the link on what it took to get the other half of the population onto Norwegian boards. A brave man indeed!
Gender is not a silo under the topic of diversity because it affects every single human being on the planet. Put simply, we know that there are neurological and chemical differences in the male and female brain. A man can have feminine wiring and a woman can have male wiring. The trouble with the current status quo (especially in finance and law) is that only females with male wiring get promoted to senior positions. It is time for all of us in every profession, industry, vocation and in schools and in politics to educate ourselves on this fundamental information so that we can begin to widen the accepted range of leadership behaviours and styles.
Or do we have to force the issue as they did in Norway? What do you think?
With passion as always!
Tracey
A bold move indeed – but it is about time there was some positive action to accelerate change. A key quote for me in the article is this, "From the time the first man came into the world, the one who gets power wants to keep it." This is why change is so hard! Someone has to move over.
